Kazakh President briefed on introduction of 5G network
Kazakh Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had a meeting with Kazakhtelecom Board Chairman Kuanyshbek Yessekeev, Kazinform News Agency cites Akorda.
Tokayev was informed about the results of the work of the Kazakhtelecom group of companies in 2023 and got familiarized with the plans for the upcoming period.
The President was briefed about the realization of his instructions aimed at accelerating the 5G network implementation by the end of 2025. According to Yessekeev, the plan to build over seven thousand base stations was developed. In his words, the company is the first and, so far, the only company to launch the 5G technology in industrial operation.
In addition, the President was reported on the work on the project for construction of the Trans-Caspian fiber-optic communication line under the Caspian Sea between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. The project is to give the opportunity to increase the transit of international traffic within the country, making Kazakhstan the key regional telecommunication hub.
During the meeting, Tokayev stressed the importance of digitizing the economy and social sphere.
The Kazakh Head of State also pointed out the need to provide all the citizens with modern telecommunication services and instructed to continue timely realization of all the investment projects of the company.
