Kazakh President calls on young teachers to work in rural schools

ALMATY. October 13. KAZINFORM. /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ "Over previous eight years we built 616 schools in the state", Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev has said delivering a lecture in Almaty today.

The President called on young teachers to move to rural districts. According to him, it is necessary to overcome the gap between the rural and urban schools. It can be fulfilled through the methods of distance education.

"We are quite decided about a breakthrough in the educational system. The science should become a basis of innovative economy. In the 1990s our institutes faced severe problems. Beginning from the year of 2000 we started to change the situation. Over previous 5 years financing of Kazakhstan's science increased almost four times. Despite the difficulties this year it amounted to KZT 18.5 billion. The state program of development of science till 2012 is carried through currently. Due to it Kazakhstan raised its rating of global competitiveness on innovative development index on 13 positions", the President noted.
