Kazakh President condoles with Kyrgyzstan over death of people in Osh mudslide

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a telegram of condolences to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Zhaparov, over tragic death of people in the devastating mudslide which occurred in Nookat district of Osh region in Kyrgyzstan, Kazinform News Agency learned from the Akorda press service.

Sharing the grief of irreparable loss, on behalf of the people of Kazakhstan and on his own behalf, the Head of State expressed the deepest condolences and words of sympathy to the families and relatives of the victims, and wished soonest recovery to all those injured. In the spirit of good-neighborly relations and mutual support, Kazakhstan has sent humanitarian aid to the emergency site and, in case of need, is ready to provide further support to the fraternal people of Kazakhstan.

As reported, on June 28, mudslide occurred in Nookat district of Osh region. The mudflows swept away bridges, roads and power stations, and killed eight people including four Kazakhstani children. As many as 1,400 people got trapped on Abshyr-Ata and Kezart jailoo.

On June 30, Kazakhstani rescuers arrived in Osh to airlift bodies of the dead children. The rescuers also brought humanitarian aid for the victims.
