Kazakh President: Decisions of Normandy Quartet should be applauded
Nursultan Nazarbayev reminded that the conflict in the south-east of Ukraine led to the deaths of more than 5,000 people. "This is a great tragedy of the Ukrainian people. Kazakhstan has been and continues to be active in the general work on finding ways to control this crisis," said the Head of State. Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed that the situation in Ukraine remains one of the main topics of his talks with foreign leaders at the end of last year and early this year. "As a result, in August last year Minsk for the first time held the meeting of Presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine. The leaders of Russia and Ukraine had an opportunity to meet face to face. They also held round tables with representatives of the EU," said the President. "My negotiations of recent months have focused on the organization of the summit of leaders of "Normandy Quartet". We welcome the outcome of the difficult negotiations of heads of state held on February 12 in Minsk. We must applaud the heads of states who participated in the talks. They have done important work to stop the bloodshed," said the Leader of the nation.
