Kazakh President fires Samruk-Kazyna Chairman Timur Kulibayev

ASTANA. December 23. KAZINFORM Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev will dismiss Chairman of the Board of JSC "National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" Timur Kulibayev. The Head of State made it public at a meeting with members of maslikhats of Mangystau region, Khabar TV Channel reported.

The President told about the origins of problems in Zhanaozen town. There was a prolonged conflict between employees and management of "Ozenmunaygaz" Company. The third parties took advantage of a difficult situation and organized the riots.

"I will order Timur Kulibayev to resign as head of "Samruk-Kazyna" Fund. He did not fulfill my instruction to timely resolve a labor dispute. Moreover, the employers illegally dismissed employees, including those who were absent from work for legitimate reasons, were on sick or vacation leave, etc." Nazarbayev said.

"It is necessary to deal with the problem of 1800 sacked workers and promptly take the necessary measures for their employment. However, they do not have to lose in wages compared to the previous place of work. In addition, it is necessary to separate the company "Ozenmunaygaz" from the company "KazMunayGas", and make it a full-fledged entity. We should never forget that stability is the main condition for the success of Kazakhstan," the Kazakh leader emphasized.
