Kazakh President, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar University discuss cooperation expansion
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a talk with Grand Imam of Al-Azhar University Ahmed el-Tayeb, Akorda reports.
The Kazakh leader pointed out that the Kazakhstani people have great respect for the recognized authority of the Al-Azhar University, that is a beacon of knowledge, peace and spiritual guidance for the Muslim Ummah.
The President expressed gratitude to the Grand Imam for his contribution to strengthening tolerance and interfaith dialogue as well as preaching the true principles of Islam. According to the Head of State, these values are of greater importance in today’s polarized and fragmented world.
President Tokayev invited Ahmed el-Tayeb to attend the 8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, set to take place in Astana next year.
The meeting also discussed opportunities for greater cooperation in the field of theological education and scientific study.
