Kazakh President instructs to take measures preventing the spread of Ebola virus

The meeting reviewed the sanitary and epidemiological situation in Kazakhstan. The urgency of this issue is related to a number of factors, including the rapid spread of the Ebola virus in the world. Opening the round table, the President of Kazakhstan noted that the effective provision of public health is one of the priorities of the state. "There are hotbeds of infectious diseases including dangerous animal diseases - anthrax and brucellosis. At the same time threats of external origin are growing, including the Ebola virus. You must pay close attention to the protection of the population against various infections and take appropriate actions. We should clearly define the responsibilities of public authorities and coordinate their actions," said Nursultan Nazarbayev. Despite the measures taken to reduce the incidence of tuberculosis, the disease continues to require attention at the state level. In this regard, it is important to ensure complete detection of all TB cases. Kazakhstan's President also set a target to enhance the interaction and information exchange on cross-border risks and threats of biological safety with other countries and the World Health Organization. In addition, the President instructed to inform Kazakh citizens, traveling on business and personal matters in the countries, disadvantaged in terms of dangerous diseases, about safety precautions. Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of National Economy Y.Dossayev and Agriculture Minister A.Mamytbekov in their reports indicated that the epidemic and epizootic situation in the country is generally stable. Registered in 2002-2014 incidences of especially dangerous infections as plague, cholera, anthrax, and Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, had single instances. In conclusion, Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that the Government and local authorities should provide timely and quality implementation of the set tasks.
