Kazakh President lauds development of agro-industrial complex in S Kazakhstan

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - President Nursultan Nazarbayev held a press briefing for mass media in Shymkent following results of his working trip to South Kazakhstan region, Kazinform refers to the Akorda's press service.

The President of Kazakhstan noted that utmost attention is paid to the development of South Kazakhstan region, the most populated province in the country. "We make every effort to increase population in Shymkent. The city is growing and the infrastructure of the entire region is getting better. Motorways, railroads and gas pipelines cross the region. This positively impacts the development of business and welfare of the residents," Nursultan Nazarbayev said. At the press briefing, the Head of State also stressed the importance of developing local agro-industrial complex. "The region has everything in place to become the hub for cultivation of vegetables and fruits. Over the past 5 years volume of agricultural production in southern Kazakhstan has increased almost threefold. As a result, local vegetables and fruits are currently exported outside of the country," the Kazakh President added. In conclusion, Nursultan Nazarbayev reminded that this year Kazakhstan will celebrate a number of important historical milestones that will solidify unity, mutual understanding and tolerance in the society.
