Kazakh President maps out five key areas for cooperation with China

Kazakhstan is ready to invest efforts for further strengthening of good neighborly relations with China, President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, told in an interview with Xinhua Agency, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The Head of State said given the solid foundation laid over the past 32 years of successful bilateral cooperation Kazakhstan is ready to make efforts to further strengthen good-neighborly relations, boost exchange and deepen practical cooperation.

To this end, the President highlighted the deepening of investment cooperation, especially in agriculture, new energy and motor-car constriction and industrialization and production of high-value-added products.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed the need to use contemporary tools, in particular, e-commerce and e-trading facilities to bolster trade between the two countries, as well as to diversify trade structure and increase commodity classification.

2024 is an important year for further promotion of the One Road, One Belt global initiative which signals the next 10th anniversary of the inception of the initiative.

The Head of State stressed the need to strengthen Kazakhstan’s role as a key and irreplaceable participant in this mega initiative as well as a reliable Eurasian transport hub and Central Asian logistics hub. He also spotlighted opportunities at the Lianyungang Port, the dry port in Xi’an, and the Khorgos-East Gate special economic zone.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also focused on expanding transport cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.

He said construction of the second track at the Dostyk-Moiynty railways section is underway, while construction of the third railway checkpoint will start on the border.

He added introduction of the visa-free regime, mutual opening of cultural centers, Lu Ban’s workshops, branches of universities, and an increase in flights between the two nations will pave the way for further strengthening of mutual understanding and friendship. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated with confidence the countries stand at the origins of great achievements and victories that undoubtedly will consolidate the countries on the way to a brighter future as part of the new ‘golden 30th anniversary’ of relations between Kazakhstan and China.
