Kazakh President offers to establish coop between OTS and IOFS

At today’s Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Astana the Kazakh President supported the initiative to grant the Economic Cooperation Organization an observer status, Kazinform Agency reports.

It is necessary to further continue the organization’s optimization measures. The Head of State called as soon as possible to tackle an issue concerning the appointment of our permanent representatives to the OTS. The President also hailed a suggestion to increase secretariat staff.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed the need to strengthen the cooperation of Turkic countries in the sphere of elections.

The Kazakh President said international and regional structures are deeply interested in the OTS lately. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev supported the initiative to grant the Economic Cooperation Organization an observer status and suggested establishing cooperation between the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) and the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
