Kazakh President receives Internal Affairs Minister

ASTANA. December 24. KAZINFORM Today Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev has received Minister of Internal Affairs Kalmukhanbet Kassymov.

The Head of State stressed it was necessary to conduct work on prevention and disclosure of crimes committed in the country, the presidential press service reports.

"It is crucial to pay attention to petty crimes and offences, stop them, and fine offenders. You should look into international experience in this respect and use it in your work," President Nazarbayev said.

During the meeting, Minister Kassymov reported on the criminal situation in the country and measures taken to ensure social security and clamp down on criminal activity.

In his words, the growth in number of petty crimes and offences amounted to 25%. At the same time, rate of manslaughter cases decreased for 11%.

Following the results of the meeting, the Head of State gave a number of specific instructions.
