Kazakh President receives Prosecutor General

Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Berik Assylov who reported on the state of law and order and the priority directions of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Kazinform News Agency learnt from the Akorda press service.

He reported on the recovery of illegally obtained assets, monitoring of significant investment projects, and settlement of problematic issues of investors.

He also focused on international cooperation issues. In particular, this year some 40 persons accused of heavy and especially grave crimes have been extradited from abroad. Kazakhstan signed 73 agreements on criminal matters with 34 foreign countries.

He also reported on torture prevention measures. 29,000 cameras were established at the penal institutions so that the number of complaints of torture reduced from 94 to 17.

Following the meeting, the Head of State stressed the need to ensure law enforcement in all spheres.
