According to the Jordan's embassy in Kazakhstan, it is the second visit of N. Nazarbayev to Jordan. The first one was in 2006. Then the two leaders agreed to strengthen diplomatic relations, create Kazakh-Jordanian Business Council, extend cooperation between the twin cities of Astana and Amman as well as open direct flight connection between the two capitals.
The diplomatic relations between the two states were established in 1993. According to the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture, in 2008 the volume of bilateral trade made USD 75 million. Over 8 months of 2009 the index of commodity circulation amounted to USD 20 million decreasing by 3.4 per cent.
