TANA. November 15. KAZINFORM Today Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has held consultations with Prime Minister Karim Massimov, Senate Chairman Kairat Mami and Majilis Speaker Ural Mukhamedzhanov in connection with the Kazakh MPs' appeal to the President to dissolve the Lower House and call snap parliamentary elections.

The Prime Minister and speakers of the Parliament Houses supported the decision to dissolve the Majilis and conduct snap elections to the Lower House.

Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that the parliament members based their appeal on several factors. First, according to the constitutional amendments there shall be not less than two political parties in the Majilis. Second, Kazakhstan suffered the most difficult global economic crisis of 2008-2009. The crisis came at a time of work of the Majilis of the current convocation.

The President noted that the society needed multi-party parliament. It is important to renew the parliament as part of the large-scale modernization of the country. In addition, if the next crisis occurs, the coincidence with electoral campaign will complicate the work of the country's leadership, the government and the regions on this matter. MPs also offer to combine the Majilis elections and elections to the local representative bodies - maslikhats.

"Given your stance on this issue I will consider a draft decree on the dissolution of the Majilis and conducting snap elections," President Nazarbayev added.
