Kazakh President visits new sports facilities in Karaganda
In particular, the President visited the tennis center, boxing center and Ice Palace. Kazakhstan's figure skater Denis Ten, Russian figure-skaters Alexei Yagudin and Dmitry Lapshin performed in the new ice palace of Karaganda.
Nazarbayev congratulated the residents of Karaganda on the new sports facilities. "Kazakhstan marks the jubilee of independence with great success in economic and social spheres," the Kazakh leader said.
Akim of Karaganda region Serik Akhmetov informed that the construction was fully financed by private investors.
The tennis center with an area 5300 sq m includes three indoor and five outdoor courts. More than 400 spectators will be able to simultaneously view sports tournaments.
The boxing center includes two boxing rings. Its floor area is more than 5300 sq m. The center holds almost 800 spectators.
The Ice Palace has total area of more than 15500 sq m and can accommodate over 5500 spectators. Over KZT 2 billion was spent for the construction of this facility.
