Kazakh President’s TV and Radio Complex, Al Jazeera launch new project to further promote cooperation
The TV and Radio Complex of the Kazakh President and Al Jazeera Media Network are moving forward the implementation of the memorandum of cooperation, signed within the state visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the State of Qatar early this year, Kazinform News Agency reports.
In April this year, the two media companies kicked off the project Al Jazeera Week, with over 100 students of the Maqsut Narikbayev University (MNU) embarking on one-week training from world-level lecturers and journalists.
As part of the project, professionals from Al Jazeera, including Mostefa Souag, Director General of Al Jazeera Media Network, delivered four public lectures for Kazakhstani journalists and media specialists.
The TV and Radio Complex of the Kazakh President is sending its journalists for training at the Al Jazeera Media Institute as the next practical step in implementing the memorandum of cooperation. Kazakhstani journalists are to undergo an individual in-person training program in Al Jazeera Media Network divisions in Doha.
The training program was discussed during a meeting of Director of the TV and Radio Complex of the Kazakh President Raushan Kazhibayeva and Director General of Al Jazeera Media Network Mostefa Souag.
Al Jazeera is among the world’s most influential media outlets. Cooperation between our companies, which develops dynamically, helps to develop Kazakhstani media and professional growth in television, said Kazhibayeva.
Kazakhstan’s Media Holding’s Director added that all journalists, who are to undergo training, have professional English skills, an overall IELTS band score of over 6.5 and will further contribute to the TV and Radio Complex.
This is the second joint project between TV and Radio Complex of the Kazakh President and Al Jazeera Media Network aimed at promoting professional skills in Kazakhstani media.
It was agreed to host the 2nd edition of the Al Jazeera Week project in April 2025 in Astana, with the Qatari media corporation’s specialists delivering master classes and seminars for students of the International School of Journalism at the Maqsut Narikbayev University.
TV and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan is one of the biggest media companies in Kazakhstan uniting Jibek Joly and Silk Way TV channels, Silk Way Cinema, Kazinform International News Agency and the Documentary Films Center.
Private-media conglomerate Al Jazeera Media Network was established in 1996 at the instruction of the Emir of Qatar. The network’s flagship channels include Al Jazeera Arabic and Al Jazeera English broadcasting all over the world. Al Jazeera Documentary produces documentary content.
