Kazakh professor ranks among world’s top 2% of scientists for 2nd consecutive year

For a second year in a row, professor of the Gumilyov Eurasian National University Ratbay Myrzakulov has been included in the List of world’s top 2% of scientists. The renowned Kazakhstani theoretical physicist has been featured in both rankings of the Stanford University in terms of publication activity and citation rate in Scopus database, Kazinform News Agency refers to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The authors of the rankings analyzed the achievements of 100,000 best scientists of the world divided into 22 fields of science. The nominees were selected based on their publication activity and citation rate in the Scopus database.

The importance of this achievement for me is that our science is recognized by the global community. I am pleased to realize that our university, our country have achieved such a level, says the professor.

The annual ranking is compiled by the analysts of the Stanford University based on a systematic bibliometric research, according to the latest data from Elsevier. The first research includes the most cited scientists throughout their career, and the second one includes most cited scientists in the past year.

Academician Ratbay Myrzakulov is the author of more than 400 scientific works with more than 300 articles published in foreign high-impact factor magazines. The professor’s Hirsch index is 48 and citation index is 8,189.

In 2022, Ratbay Myrzakulov was honored the Scopus international award in Physics and Astronomy for outstanding achievement in scientific research.

The professor also tops the General Ranking of Kazakhstan’s Teaching Staff for a 10th consecutive year.
