Kazakh, Qatari ministers of higher education meet in Doha, discuss AI development
Kazakhstan’s minister of higher education and science Sayasat Nurbek met with his Qatari counterpart Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi in Doha as part of participation in the 11th edition of the World Innovation Summit of Education, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The sides discussed the issues of expanding cooperation in the field of science and higher education between the two countries.
Sayasat Nurbek told the Qatari minister about the latest reforms launched in Kazakhstan in higher education and science.
He stressed that Kazakhstan attached special importance to the digitalization of higher education and research institutions, as per President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s instruction.
Thus, in collaboration with SeoulTech, the School of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics was established at Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda State University.
Kazakhstan carries out huge work in AI and digitalization. As part of this work, we open centers for transfer of foreign technologies to Kazakhstan. Similar centers are set up in Satbayev University, Yessenov University, Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda State University and other higher education institutions. Two universities – Satbayev University and East Kazakhstan Technical University – are already piloting university digitalization projects. A unified platform of higher education will soon begin operating, said the Kazakh minister.
In turn, Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi told Sayasat Nurbek about the reforms in AI launched in Qatar.
The sides agreed to strengthen cooperation between the countries in development of AI in science and higher education sectors.
