Kazakh, Russian and Belarus Presidents discuss the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union
The meeting was attended by the heads of Kazakhstan - Nursultan Nazarbayev, Russia - Vladimir Putin and Belarus - Alexander Lukashenko as well as the chairman of the Board of Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko. During the meeting Presidents discussed status and prospects of integration processes within the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space, as well as major issues of implementation of the agreements reached at previous meetings of SEEC. In addition the heads of states have reviewed the draft treaty on the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union. The President noted that the agreement on the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union consists of two parts - the institutional and functional. Kazakhstan President stressed the need for consistent settlement of the aspects that remained unresolved. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan have been consistently moving towards integration, which is already yielding very specific results and benefits. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has expressed his hope that the round table will be able to find mutually acceptable solutions in order to sign the contract within the agreed timeframe.
