Kazakh, Russian PMs met in Beijing

ASTANA.  October 14. KAZINFORM /Ruslan Suleimenov/ Prime Minister Karim Massimov met today with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Beijing within the sitting of the heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization governments.

"Kazakhstan and Russia interacts in many spheres and today the most important issue is establishment of the Customs Union", V. Putin said.

Having noted that Kazakhstan is one of the leaders and initiators of integration processes on the post-soviet space, V. Putin said: "Customs Union is an important component of stability taking into consideration the level of cooperation in transport and infrastructure"

In turn, Massimov noted that Russia is our strategic partner and a reliable friend. "All decisions we adopted in June regarding regulation of work on Customs Union approach their final stage", the PM said.

Next week Kazakhstani delegation headed by First Vice PM will leave for Moscow for coordination of the last moments in order to sign a final document of the Customs Union in November at the EurAsEC meeting.

Further the Kazakh PM informed the Russian side of the issues raised a year ago regarding enhancement of the southern borders in the area of our responsibility within the Customs Union.

"Despite the crisis we took a decision to allot money this year and envisaged necessary funds for the next one. By the end of the next year all borders in southern directions will be closed", Massimov stressed.
