Kazakh team in Top-3 of XXI International Zhautykov Olympiad in Mathematics, Physics and Informatics
Some 70 school students competed for 318 medals at the XXI International Zhautykov Mathematics, Physics and Informatics Olympiad held in Astana from January 13 to 17, Kazinform News Agency reports.
“Today is a remarkable event for the entire education system. For 21 years, thanks to the outstanding mathematician, academician Orymbek Zhautykov, a whole generation of talented mathematicians has been formed, recognized today all over the world. The International Zhautykov Olympiad brought together hundreds of talented schoolchildren and turned into a real platform for demonstrating knowledge, a window into the world of Kazakh culture and traditions. Each of the participants showed worthy results in such fundamental sciences as mathematics, physics, computer science and today proudly raised the flag of their country at the global stage,” Minister of Enlightenment of Kazakhstan Gani Beissembayev said.
The participants competed for 69 gold, 100 silver and 149 bronze medals.
A team of Saint Petersburg-based Presidential Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 239 (Russia) was named an absolute champion of the Olympiad and were awarded the Grand Prix.
Moscow-based Lyceum "Second School" named after V.F. Ovchinnikov took gold medal and was awarded the title of the Best Olympic Team.
Mathematical Grammar School of Belgrade, Serbia, and the «Phystech-Lyceum» named after P.L. Kapitza from Dolgoprudny, Russian Federation, became silver medalists of the Olympiad.
A team of the Republican Physics and Mathematics School from Almaty, together with Vorobevy Gory Lyceum (Moscow) and Tubitak Science School of Türkiye took third place and earned bronze medals.
In total, Kazakh school students won 116 medals (21 gold, 33 silver and 62 bronze).
The participants were awarded special prizes from the Nurlan Kapparov Foundation, as well as special prizes for each subject. The Grand Prix winners were awarded a cup and laptops. All winners received diplomas from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
