Kazakh schoolchildren show impressive results at IJSO-2024 winning 2 silver, 4 bronze medals

Kazakh schoolstudents triumphed at the XXI International Junior Science Olympiad in Bucharest, Romania, having bagged six medals, Kazinform News Agency reports.

This was a tough competition, as more than 360 school students from 60 countries gathered in the Romanian capital to compete in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The Kazakh team demonstrated a 100 percent result and claimed two silver and four bronze medals. 

Silver medalists are Aizere Zheniskhanova, 10th grade student of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School (Oskemen) and Adil Zhiyenbayev, 10th grade student of Almaty-based Republican Physics and Mathematics School.

Bronze medals went to Anastassiya Ponomaryova, 9th grade student of Astana-based Republican Physics and Mathematics School; Abdizhan Imraimov, 9th grade student of NURORDA School Lyceum of Astana; Munar Sagimbay, 10th grade student of Almaty-based Republican Physics and Mathematics School; and Alikhan Iskender, 9th grade student of the Bilim-Innovation Lyceum for Gifted Children of Aktobe region.

Launched in 2004, IGSO is the annual individual and team competition in the Natural Sciences for students under 15.

Last year, Team Kazakhstan won six bronze medals at the IJSO-2023 held in Bangkok, Thailand.
