Kazakh Senate Chairman Ashimbayev meets with US Congress Senator Steve Daines

Speaker of the Senate of the Kazakh parliament Maulen Ashimbayev met with US Congress Senator Steve Daines, discussing enhancement of interparliamentary cooperation, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the upper chamber of the Kazakh parliament.

During the meeting, it was noted that the regular interstate political dialogue at the highest level contributes to the development of Kazakh-US interaction. To note, last September Presidents of borth countries Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Joe Biden met within the C5+1 Summit held on the sidelines of the UN GA in New York. Last February, the official visit of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Kazakhstan took place.

Special attention was placed to the dynamics of multilateral and interparliamentary interaction.

The Presidents of our countries define the strategic priorities and the agenda of our relations and do a lot to strengthen and develop Kazakh-American relations. The countries enjoy an intensive political dialogue, develop actively trade and economic cooperation, share an extensive legal framework. High interaction set by the leaders of the two countries needs to be maintained in other spheres, including within legislative bodies, said Ashimbayev.

In addition, the interlocutors discussed interaction of parliamentarians in terms if trade and economic cooperation and other issues.

The Senate speaker also familiarized his interlocutor with the work on legal support of the reforms initiative by the Head of State as well as the realization of the Concept of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

For his part, Steve Daines commended the comprehensive transformations. In particular, the senator noted the efficiency of the measures aimed at developing democracy in Kazakhstan, transitioning to a mew economic model, developing spiritual diplomacy as well as confirmed commitment to step up joint work.
