Kazakh Senate Speaker, Ambassador Jianwei discuss possible CICA transformation

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Chairman of the Kazakh Senate Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev has received today Executive Director of Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Ambassador Gong Jianwei, Kazinform has learnt from the chamber's press service.

Having congratulated the renowned Chinese diplomat on the new appointment, the Kazakh Senate Speaker commended the People's Republic of China for successful CICA Chairmanship. Mr. Tokayev especially stressed that since China assumed the responsibility of CICA Chairmanship, the forum has earned remarkable standing and become the important factor in ensuring security in Asia. He also added that President Nursultan Nazarbayev had highly estimated the 4th CICA Summit in Shanghai in May 2014 where practical mechanisms of strengthening confidence-building measures in Asia had been developed. Ambassador Jianwei, in turn, informed of plans for CICA's further development and its possible transformation.
