Kazakh Senate Speaker Ashimbayev meets with Togolese President Gnassingbé

 Chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament Maulen Ashimbayev held a meeting with President of the Republic of Togo Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, discussing the issues of developing cooperation between the two countries and expanding interparliamentary interaction, Kazinform News Agency reports. 

The Senate Speaker stressed that the Togolese Republic is one of the yet and perspective partners of Kazakhstan in West Africa. He also drew attention to the important of further strengthening cooperation at the interparliamentary level, including within international organizations.

Interparliamentary cooperation is an integral part of our bilateral relations. We take interest in establishing dialogue with the National Assembly of Togo, with the creation of the corresponding groups of friendship as the first step in this direction. Our deputies could establish contacts at the international platforms such as the Interparliamentary Union and other organizations. I’m sure that your visit to Kazakhstan will lay a foundation for further development of our interparliamentary cooperation, said Ashimbayev.

The meeting also discussed the wide range of international and regional issues.

The Senate speaker familiarized the Togolese President on the legislative work of the Chamber aimed at realizing the reforms initiated by the Kazakh Head of State.

For his part, President of the Republic of Togo Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé commended the reforms carried out in Kazakhstan, expressing interest in further strengthening and expanding cooperation in all areas.
