Kazakh Senate Speaker meets with UAE Tolerance Minister Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan

As part of his visit to the UAE, Chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament Maulen Ashimbayev met with Minister of Tolerance and Coexistance of the UAE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, with the two discussing the prospects of further enhancement of partnership and expansion of interparliamentary cooperation, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the Kazakh upper chamber of parliament. 

The meeting highlighted the resemblance of the strategic positions of Kazakhstan and the UAE in many issues of international agenda. In particular, peaceful coexistence and promotion of the ideas of tolerance, joining efforts in the fight against the modern challenges and global problems, including those outlined during the past international conference on religious leaders’ involvement in addressing environmental issues were discussed.

Climate change, according to Ashimbayev, is one of the pressing issues of global level, including for Kazakhstan. To this end, the Kazakh Senate Speaker expressed the readiness to assist in addressing the said problems as part of the realization of the concept of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

Global climate change leads to water shortage in our regions and different problems in the development of agro-industrial complex. It’s also obvious that this is the threat to the entire world and it’s important to join efforts of all constructive forces in this direction. In this difficult period, cultivation of mutual understanding and respect is of special importance. We believe that the potential of religious figures needs to be used more actively in addressing global issues, including environmental ones, said the Kazakh Senate Speaker, wishing successful holding of the upcoming climate conference COP28.

On the same day, Ashimbayev also met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during which the high role of religious leaders and the importance of spiritual diplomacy in addressing global issues and promoting peaceful settlement of the existing problems was noted.

The Kazakh Senate Chairman also visited the Abrahamic Family House, encompassing a mosque, a church, and a synagogue, Abu Dhabi Global Market, global tech ecosystem Hub71.
