Kazakh Senate Speaker, CICA Secretary General hold talks

Kazakh Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev met with Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia Kairat Sarybay, Kazinform Newsws Agency cites the Senate’s press service.

Greeting Sarybay, the Kazakh Speaker noted the growing role of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia and expressed interest in strengthening cooperation. He drew attention to the initiatives voiced at the 6th Summit in Astana and mechanisms for implementing the roadmap for the CICA transforming into a full-fledged international organization.

At the Summit in Astana in 2022, the Kazakh President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, outlined priorities for Kazakhstan’s CICA chairmanship in 2022-2024, including the meeting of leaders of volunteer movements, organization of environmental conferences, and the foundation of the sustainable interconnection council.

The sides also debated issues concerning Kazakhstan’s CICA chairmanship and the organization’s geographic growth and expansion of the scope of its activities, epidemiological security, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.

Great attention was also paid to the development of a dialogue between civilizations and religions. Ashimbayev briefed on the concept for the development of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions until 2033 and outlined directions for further joint activities.
