Kazakh Senate Speaker invited to participate in UN's Alliance of Civilizations
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Cooperation between Spain and Kazakhstan as well as relevant issues of international agenda have been discussed at a meeting in Astana between Kazakh Senate Speaker Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and former Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Migel Angel Moratinos, the Senate's press service reports.

The meeting was held on Thursday on the sidelines of the 7th Astana Economic Forum (AEF). Mr. Moratinos noted ‘Kazakhstan stands a good chance of getting the temporary seat on the UN Security Council in 2017-2018.' Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, in turn, said a number of Kazakhstani MPs will be involved into promoting Kazakhstan's bid. The ex-Spanish Foreign Minister praised AEF's potential and pointed out it is gaining popularity among foreign economists, politicians, businessmen and public figures. He also invited Mr. Tokayev to partake in the work of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, an initiative proposed by Spain and Turkey.
