Kazakh singer shines at opera competition in Germany

ALMATY. November 8. KAZINFORM Soloist of Astana Opera Theater Saltanat Akhmetova wowed the prestigious competition Neue Stimmen in Germany by winning in the nomination Klassik Herbst in Gutersloh.

"Nearly 1 500 people submitted their applications to participate in the competition and only 40 were chosen. Saltanat and eight other contenders were lucky to reach the final," the press service of the Astana Opera reports.

"The elimination rounds were held around the world. During three months the jury was selecting the finalists. The elimination round I took part in took place in Berlin. This is the first time Kazakhstan has participated in this contest," the opera singer said.

This is quite an achievement to reach the final of such competition, because the jury numbers directors of the largest and most renowned European and American theaters.
