Kazakh students won many international Olympiads in 2008
ASTANA. December 30. KAZINFORM. Kazakhstani schoolchildren won a number of bright victories in the international contests of 2008. Out of 255 medals won in the previous year 72 are gold ones, 81 silver, 102 bronze, including 19 diplomas of merit; Kazinform refers to the press-office of ?Daryn? Republican Scientific and Practical Research Center.
29 students represented Kazakhstan in the Scientific International Olympiad I-SWEEP in Houston (Texas, USA). 23 Kazakh students won 11 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze medals. Students from 51 countries presented 400 scientific projects within the competition in all.
Kazakhstani schoolchildren won 4 silver and 1 bronze medals in the 42nd International Mendeleyev Olympiad in Chemistry in Tashkent.
The 40th International Olympiad in Chemistry took place on July 12-21, 2008 in Budapest, Hungary. The teams from 68 countries took part in it. Kazakhstani pupils won 4 silver medals and entered into top ten of the world.
Besides, our students took part in the international conference of high school students within the framework of ?Model OSCE? Program on the threshold of Kazakhstan?s chairmanship in OSCE. The educational program ?Model OSCE? organized by the OCSE Secretariat is based on the simulation exercises for secondary school students. 110 students from 35 countries participated in the conference in all.
?Daryn? Center selected school students for participation in the International Conference ?Model OSCE? which took place on July 4-8, 2008 in Vienna, Austria. Kazakhstan?s team consisted of Razeya Kassimova, the teacher of English language of the Petropavlovsk Zhumabayev Humanitarian College, Raushan Bektemissova, the 3-course student of this college, Assel Mendybayeva, the 9-grade student of school-gymnasium #159 of Almaty city, Bekzat Rakhimberdiyev, the 10-grade student of Karaganda regional specialized boarding school for gifted children ?Murager?.
