Schools in the United Kingdom are celebrating International Day. Students are sharing information about their countries and introducing their classmates to their traditions. Kazakh children, temporarily living in London with their parents, also participated in the event and contributed to the promotion of our national values, reports Kazinform.

Sarah-Jane Kennedy, an English teacher, had the opportunity to get closer to the culture of her Kazakh students today. She tasted traditional dishes and even tried kamzol and saukele.

"Usually, when our students come in their school uniforms, we don't always understand which country they represent and what their traditions are. Thanks to today's event, I've learned a lot about Kazakhs and Kazakhstan," said teacher Sarah-Jane Kennedy.

The school year in the United Kingdom ends in late July. One of the significant events before the summer holidays is International Day.

"The baursak is very tasty. We have a similar dish. I don't know much about Kazakhstan, but thanks to you, I've gained a lot of information," said Jamaican mother Amanda Wright.

Kaussar and Almasbek Karaman are children of international journalists. They are temporarily living in London and are the only representatives of the Kazakh nation in their school. Besides them, several dozen nationalities study at Hugh Middelton primary school. All students came in their national costumes and shared information about their historical homelands with their classmates.

"Today, we taught the children how to make Italy's national dish, pizza. Like Kazakhs, our cuisine has many dishes made from dough," said Italian parent Mario Petruni.
