Kazakh Tazy showcased at international dog show in Almaty
On September 28 and 29, Almaty hosted two dog shows of all breeds: the National Dog Show "Aurora Cup" and the International Dog Show "Land of Nomads", Kazinform News Agency learned from the Union of Cynologists of Kazakhstan
More than 500 dogs from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia participated in the event over these two days. Dogs representing more than fifty breeds competed for the titles of Champion of Kazakhstan and International Champion of Beauty. International experts from the Netherlands, Slovakia, Greece and China judged the participants.
For the first time in the history of the International Canine Federation (FCI) shows, dogs of the Kazakh Tazy breed were officially exhibited in the Group 10: Sighthounds.
On September 3, the International Canine Federation (FCI) made a decision on an official preliminary recognition of the Kazakh Tazy breed of dogs and approved the status of Kazakhstan as the holder of the breed standard. This became possible thanks to the painstaking work and efforts of the Union of Cynologists of Kazakhstan under the patronage of the Kazakh President’s Executive Office, as well as a large number of canine specialists, breeders, owners and fans of this breed, who made a huge contribution to its preservation, development and popularization. From that day on, Kazakh Tazys got the right to enter the ring and compete for the title of champion in any country on an equal basis with other breeds officially recognized by the FCI.
The law on preservation and reproduction of the Kazakh Tazy and Tobet dog breeds was signed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on January 3, 2023 and entered into force on July 1 of the same year.
