Kazakh team sets up for victory, Vancouver Olympic silver medalist Yelena Khrustaleva

ALMATY. January 12. KAZINFORM /Yelena Iliinskaya/ Several days are left until the 7th Winter Asian Games start. All the sportsmen are getting ready actively for the forthcoming games and even compete in other events.Leader of the Kazakh biathlon team Yelena Khrustaleva is training now in Europe. Early January she is expected to compete in the Oberhof World Cup.

As soon as the Asian Games are over she will start preparing for the World Championship scheduled for March 1-13 in Russia and final stage of the World Cup in Norway.

Yelena, you are one of the hopefuls of Kazakh biathlon team. Millions of Kazakhstan fans believe you will win the 7th Asian Olympic Games...

A few weeks remain until the 7th Asian Games commence. The team is in a good shape. We have an attitude for the victory. Great responsibility rests with us. We will do our best to make the country be proud of. Our main rivals are China's biathletes. They are in the top ten.

Your Olympic medal is the first one in the history of Kazakh biathlon, though they say you are the Russian sportswoman...

I was born and grew up in Russia. I was on the Russian team but never showed distinct results. Therefore I have decided to seek fortune somewhere else. I lived a year in Belarus and then moved to Kazakhstan. I gained Kazakhstan's citizenship and live in Almaty now.

How long are you going to take sports? Have you ever thought of training career?

I'm planning to go in for sports until the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games so far. I'm not building far-reaching plans today. The world changes so fast and the sport world even faster. Work of a chief coach takes great efforts. And I'm a bit tired of being always on the move. May be I will think of a children's coach position later. Unfortunately there is no children's biathlon complex in Kazakhstan.

We wish you good luck. Thank you for the interview.
