Kazakh tennis team wins United Cup 1st match
Kazakhstan’s tennis team won the first match at the United Cup tournament ongoing at RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, Kazinform News Agency learned from the KTF.
The Kazakhstanis beat the Spanish team with a score of 2:1. Elena Rybakina overwhelmed Jéssica Bouzas Maneiro (54 WTA) in her debut game at the tournament. She won the first set with a score of 6:2, and the second set - 6:3. The match lasted for one hour and 19 minutes.
Alexander Shevchenko faced Pablo Carreno-Busta (ranked 196th by the ATP) in the opening match of men's singles, which ended 6:2, 6:1 in favor of the Spaniard.
In the final third match in the group stage doubles, Elena Rybakina and Alexander Shevchenko defeated Pablo Carreno Busta / Yvonne Cavalle Reimers duo - 7:6 (7:4), 6:7 (2:7), 10:7.
Earlier, world No. 6 Elena Rybakina won the World Tennis League 2024 in Abu Dhabi.
