During the Government’s meeting, Kazakh Transport Minister Marat Karabayev noted that the volume of transportation through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) increased by 68% over the course of the previous 10 months, reaching a total of 3.8 million tons, Kazinform News Agency reports.

He stated that container transportation along the TITR had increased 2.7fold.

“It is worth mentioning that the growth of container transportations from China has increased 25 times. The opening of the joint Kazakhstan-China terminal in Xi'an last year contributed significantly to this result. Kazakhstan's network of terminals is being built along the corridor. In addition to the terminal in Xi'an, a Kazakh terminal has been launched in the port of Poti,” Karabayev said.

He also revealed that Kazakhstan teamed up with a Chinese company to start construction of a container hub in the Aktau Sea Port. The sides are reportedly working to build a Kazakhstani terminal in the European part of the corridor.

Furthermore, an agreement was reached with the Chinese side to increase the number of container trains this year as part of the Agreement on the development of the TITR.

“Until 2029, it is planned to increase the number of container trains from 400 to 3,000 units per year (in 2025. - 600 trains, in 2027 - 1,000 trains, in 2029 - 3,000 trains),” the minister said.
