Kazakh Transport Ministry heads Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash investigation commission

Kazakh Transport Minister Marat Karabyev is appointed as the chairman of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash investigation commission, Kazinform News Agency cites the Transport Ministry.

Director of the accidents and incidents investigation department Nurzhan Malayev is named as the deputy chairman of the commission.

This commission is a part of the governmental commission led by Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev. The commission is set to determine the cause of the air accident and develop recommendations to prevent such accidents in the future.

Today the meeting of the commission brought together 17 international experts who arrived in Kazakhstan after the plane crash near Aktau. The commission members will visit the crash site.

As written before, the Head of the ICAO’s Air Accident Investigation Section, landed in Aktau on December 29. Besides, the CENIPA and Embraer representatives arrived in Kazakhstan.

38 died and 29 survived as Baku-Grozny flight J2-8243 operated by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, on December 25.

Earlier it was reported that the bodies of 10 deceased people out of 38 have been so far identified.
