Kazakh troops reach SCO anti-terror drill site
ZHURIHE. KAZINFORM A 279-strong Kazakh team on Friday afternoon arrived at its anti-terror drill destination in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
They are the first foreign troops to arrive at Zhurihe, where "Peace Mission-2014," a drill under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) framework, will run from Aug. 24-29.
The drill, which will involve over 7,000 personnel from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, is expected to hone multilateral decision-making, sharpen joint anti-terror efforts and boost intelligence sharing to ensure regional peace and stability. Military sources said early Wednesday that Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Tajik troops had entered China and were heading for the drill site. The last group of foreign troops is expected to arrive by Aug. 18, Xinhua reports.
