Kazakh-U.S. strategic partnership contributes to international security and regional stability

ASTANA. December 13. KAZINFORM  A reception in honor of the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held on Tuesday in Washington, the press service of the Kazakh Embassy in the United States informs.

Hundreds of people, including high-ranking representatives of the White House, the Department of State, the Congress, the Pentagon, the Department of Energy and other U.S. agencies, the American business and culture circles, as well as numerous representatives of the Kazakh Diaspora attended the event.

In his speech, Charge d'Affaires of Kazakhstan to the United States Dastan Eleukenov informed the guests of the political and economic achievements of Kazakhstan's independence such as Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE in 2010 and in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in 2011-2012. Participants took a favorable view on Kazakhstan's appointment to UNCHR and holding of EXPO-2017 international exhibition.

The Kazakh diplomat praised the cooperation with the United States, which is one of the priorities of our foreign policy. According to him, the "strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States significantly contributes to international security and regional stability."

In his turn, Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia, U.S. Department of State Geoffrey R. Pyatt noted the important role of the Kazakh-American Commission on Strategic Partnership as an effective mechanism of bilateral political consultations, and praised the cooperation of Kazakhstan and the U.S. to rebuild Afghanistan, the promotion of regional economic integration, including in the framework of the "New Silk Road".

G. Payatt confirmed U.S. support for the accession of Kazakhstan to the World Trade Organization, and emphasized prospects of further expansion of scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries.
