Kazakh universities must accelerate innovative development - forum in Almaty

sp;ALMATY. November 13. KAZINFORM. /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ Kazakhstan's universities should become a core of economy of knowledge, accelerator of innovative development of the state. Minister of Education and Science Zhanseit Tuimebayev has said it at "Science and Technical Education without Borders" international forum in Almaty today.

According to the Minister, universities must become an engine of development of educational system and society as a whole. "One of the main characteristics of a world class university is its research activity and policy of support of such activity. The analysis of work of the world's leading universities shows that in parallel with innovative educational process they are engaged in research activity", Mr. Tuimebayev noted.

"A modern university should combine the best education, scientific research on priority directions and business culture", the Minister emphasized.  He wished the forum's participants fruitful work and elaboration of constructive proposals.
