Kazakh weightlifter Ilya Ilyin wins third world title

TANA. November 14. KAZINFORM Ilya Ilyin of Kazakhstan gained the title of three-time world champion at the world weightlifting championships on Saturday in Paris. He dedicated his victory to the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence.

Ilyin won the gold medal after lifting 181 kilograms in the snatch and 226 kilograms in the clean and jerk for a combined 407 kilograms. He left no chances to his rivals from Russia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Romania and Ukraine.

The world weightlifting championships in Paris was the last qualifying event for the World Olympic Games in London in 2012.
