Kazakhstan's association with EEU based on economic principle - Sagintayev

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan sees the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) as an association based solely on economic principle, First Deputy Prime Minister of the country Bakytzhan Sagintayev said at the 8th Astana Economic Forum on Thursday.

"We are committed to regional integration and, in this context, we see the EEU as an association solely based on economic principle. Is the EEU a political or an economic association? Well, I can assure you that we see it as the economic one," Mr. Sagintayev noted. He also stressed that ‘close economic ties with our neighbors are the guarantee of long-term and mutually profitable relations with all EEU member states'. "We are also committed to close cooperation in the Eurasian continent and revival of the Great Silk Road which historically served as the economic foundation for East and West," First Deputy Prime Minsiter Sagintayev added.
