Kazakhstan's success in gender equality promotion lauded at int'l forum

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Secretary of State of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chairperson of the National Commission for women's affairs and family and demographic policy under the President of Kazakhstan Gulshara Abdykalikova has participated in the International Women's Forum themed "Nurly zhol - new opportunities" held on the sidelines of the 8th Astana Economic Forum.

Majiliswoman M. Kazbekova, member of the Afghan Parliament Shukria Barakzai, UNDP Administrator Helen Clark, Nobel Peace Prize winner Tawakkol Karman, foreign politicians, economic experts and businesswomen were also in attendance. While opening the forum, Ms Abdykalikova praised Kazakhstan's success in promotion of gender equality and increase in business activity among women. She stressed that it is crucial to encourage women entrepreneurs to participate actively in implementation of the projects within the framework of the new economic policy "Nurly zhol - Path to the Future" initiated by President Nursultan Nazarbayev. Participants also touched upon the challenges and opportunities for women entrepreneurs in the conditions of new global trends. The event was organized by the Kazakhstan Business Women Association.
