Kazakhstan adopts new support measures for domestic goods producers
Kazakh Finance Minister Madi Takiyev revealed the new measures of support for domestic goods producers, Kazinform News Agency reports.
For the past seven months, 35,805 agreements were signed with local goods producers which is 58.1 % more as compared to the same period of 2023 thanks to the expansion of the list of the goods exempt from the national regime from 1,380 to 4,542.
State audit bodies cancel public procurements that prefer purchasing foreign goods and services to domestic ones. Since April eight public procurements worth 25 million tenge have been cancelled so far.
He added the current public procurements rules and procurements of the quasi-state sector were amended to prioritize the acquisition of goods and services from suppliers included in the list of domestic commodity producers, to reduce penalties for local good producers from 10% to 30% that is also a substantial measure of support, etc.
The said measures aim to encourage domestic production and provide a share of Kazakhstan’s content in regulated purchases. They also helped increase the share of Kazakhstan’s content up to 54.3% in regulated purchases, therefore, the share of the domestic value in regulated procurement activities in 2023 reached 50.7%, he resumed.
