Kazakhstan amongst top 50 developed states in sphere of gender equality policy

ASTANA. March 5. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ Kazakhstan has joined the top 50 most developed states in the issues of gender equality policies.

The President has said it at the Congress of Women of Kazakhstan which is held today in Astana.

"Our policy in the sphere of gender development, involvement of women into economic and political life has been highly appraised by the world community," N. Nazarbayev noted.

The Head of State emphasized that at the World Economic Forum in 2010 it was announced that Kazakhstan took the 41st place among 135 countries in the gender equality rankings.

"We have made a top 50 in this sphere. Moreover we edged 14 countries of the European Union," N. Nazarbayev said.

The President also emphasized that the election of Kazakhstan to the Executive Council of the UN on Gender Equality and Empowering Women was an approval of our gender policy by the world community.
