ASTANA. May 15. KAZINFORM Delegation of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan (KPA) chaired by KPA deputy chairman and head of Secretariat Yeraly Tugzhanov visited Chechen Republic of Russia on 9-11 May .

Meetings with the Chechen Republic President Ramzan Kadyrov, parliamentarians, public figures, Chechen People's Assembly were held within the visit.  People's Assembly of Kazakhstan took part in the national events devoted to the Remembrance and Mourning Day of Chechen People and also participated in the TV program "Toe-holds".

The representatives of the Chechen Republic, attaching great importance to the visit of Kazakh delegation, emphasized  special relationship and warm feelings of Chechens to Kazakhstan and its people and to the Leader of the Nation, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Chairman of Chechen Republic Parliament D. Abdurakhmanov, noting the importance and necessity of such meetings, said "the Kazakhs for the Chechens are not only brothers, but of course, people who in the most difficult times gave them shelter in their country."

In turn, Y.Tugzhanov thanked the leadership of the republic for warm welcome and noted that "we should maintain friendly relations and develop communication. It is only through a national consensus and cooperation we can build peace. This is what caused our delegation's visit to the Chechen Republic. "

An agreement on cooperation between the Assembly of Peoples of Kazakhstan and the Assembly of Peoples of Chechnya was signed during the meeting.

The agreement provides the exchange of information, organization and methodical guidance to ethno-cultural associations, conducting and organizing joint research, conferences and seminars, publication of scientific papers, introduction of advanced scientific and applied research, promotion of joint cultural events and development of targeted educational programs on the subject of intercultural dialogue and ethnic education, assistance in establishing contacts and cooperation between the Ethno complexes and museums for the study of the history of  deportation of peoples and victims of political repression.

In general, during the two-day stay and intensive program in Chechnya the PAK delegation fully acquainted  the Chechen side with the Kazakh experience and achievements in the field of intercultural dialogue, the activities of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan, and presented a model of interethnic tolerance and social cohesion of Kazakh President N. Nazarbayev.
