Kazakhstan and China eye developing joint investment projects
Kazakh Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev arrived in China for an official visit, a Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
Today the Speaker met with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji to debate the strengthening of cooperation between the Kazakh Senate and NPC and shared views on the development of joint investment projects in industry, energy, transport, green energy, and agriculture.
Ashimbayev said Kazakhstan and China deepen cooperation in the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Currently, it efficiently ensures the safety of the delivery chain between Asia and Europe. He added the construction of the railway line between Kazakhstan and China, Ayagoz-Tacheng, kicked off. It is also planned to open the third railway border checkpoint.
In turn, Zhao Leji expressed readiness to contribute to the development of the tasks set by the Heads of State and highly appreciated prospects for the development of joint projects as well as within the Belt and Road initiative.
As previously stated, chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament Maulen Ashimbayev raised the issue of cooperation of the Central Asian countries at the Astana Think Tank Forum. He stressed parliamentary diplomacy becomes a catalyst for the development of relations in Central Asia.
