Kazakhstan and China reached significant progress in different spheres of interaction

This was said at the 5th session of the Kazakh-Chinese Committee on Cooperation in Beijing.

Kazakh First Vice Prime Minister Umirzak Shukeyev headed the Kazakh delegation at the negotiations, Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China Wang Qishan - the Chinese one.

The sides noted that the activities carried out from holding the 4th session made their contribution to the progress of the Kazakh-Chinese relations of strategic partnership. The important places occupy the meeting of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and PRC President Hu Jintao in Beijing in August, 2008; President N.Nazarbayev's official visit to China in April, 2009; mutual visits of Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in 2008.

The sides considered the issues of interaction in the financial sphere, in the fields of infrastructural construction, energy, geology and subsoil use, transport, customs affairs, defense and security, use and protection of trans-border rivers, and opportunities of contacts expansion in the trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

Following the results of the session there was signed the Protocol.

On Friday U.Shukeyev met with Vice Prime Minister of the PRC Wang Qishan and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Wu Bangguo. The parties exchanged opinions on bilateral relations and important international and regional problems.
