Kazakhstan and China strengthen economic & trade partnership
In the first half of the day the Ministry of Commerce held meetings of the parties in narrow and expanded formats.
Vice Minister of Economy and Budget Planning of Kazakhstan Timur Zhaksylykov said that the talks covered a wide range of bilateral issues.
"I am confident that we have a huge potential for expanding and strengthening our mutually beneficial collaboration. I believe that the implementation of the agreements, we have reached, will give qualitative content of bilateral relations on the eve of President Nursultan Nazarbayev's visit to China", said the head of the Kazakh delegation.
According to the Vice Minister, China is the most important trade partner of Kazakhstan. Trade investment and technology cooperation are rapidly growing.
The meeting discussed the questions related to cooperation in agriculture including supply of grain, flour and other agricultural products to China, development of transit potential for Kazakhstani products' export to the markets of Southeast Asia through China.
Issues of transit and logistics, transport infrastructure development, in particular the construction of the grain terminal at the Kazakh-Chinese border and terminal in the port of Lianyungang were also debated during negotiations. In addition, there was discussed infrastructure development of "Khorgos" and expanding of investment and financial cooperation.
Following the meetings, the parties signed the Protocol of the 7th meeting of the Subcommittee on Trade and Economic Cooperation under Kazakhstan and China cooperation committee.
