Kazakhstan and Egypt expand cooperation in tourism development and preservation of ancient monuments
Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Egypt Kairat Lama Sharif held a meeting with the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Arab Republic of Egypt Sherif Fathy, and discussed current issues of cooperation in the development of mutual tourism and travel, as well as the organization of research and preservation of the heritage of ancient monuments and artifacts, in connection with which a number of agreements were reached on interaction on specific joint initiatives, Kazinform News Agency cites the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's press service.
In accordance with the tasks by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on attracting foreign partners to increase the infrastructure potential in the resort areas of the country, especially in the western regions, issues of construction of hotels and resorts, highways and bridges were widely discussed with the Egyptian side, given the high development of the tourism and construction industries of Egypt. It should be noted that relevant negotiations are already underway with a number of Egyptian companies.
As is known, Kazakhstan and Egypt have been united for centuries by a rich historical and cultural heritage. In this regard, the parties discussed the issues of preserving the Kipchak culture and joint care for more than 150 ancient monuments built in Egypt during the Kipchak-Mamluk period.
With the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt and in cooperation with Mamluk scholars at Al-Mansour University, it is planned to implement a joint initiative with the Embassy of Kazakhstan to draw up a Roadmap for tourists to visit important historical monuments and cultural sites belonging to the Kipchak-Mamluk era.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue bilateral contacts at a high level and further expand cooperation between interested bodies and organizations in the above-mentioned areas of activity.
