Kazakhstan and France explore ways to intensify economic cooperation

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Alibek Kuantyrov, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the French Republic to Kazakhstan, Sylvain Guiaugue, to further develop bilateral investment cooperation, Kazinform News Agency refers to the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, both sides discussed promising avenues for expanding cooperation and the operations of existing enterprises with French capital in Kazakhstan.

Kuantyrov emphasized that France is one of the strategic foreign investors in Kazakhstan’s economy, with total investments exceeding 19 billion US dollars since 2005. The Deputy Minister highlighted Kazakhstan’s interest in jointly implementing projects in various sectors, including pharmaceuticals, agriculture, renewable energy, and others.

In turn, Guiaugue reaffirmed France’s commitment to supporting the diversification of Kazakhstan’s economy, as evidenced by the growing number of projects involving French companies in the country’s investment portfolio. Several French companies are already operating in key sectors in Kazakhstan, including Alstom in locomotive manufacturing, Total Energies in energy, Air Liquide in industrial gases production, and Lactalis in dairy production.

As a result of the meeting, both parties agreed to continue their collaborative efforts to strengthen investment cooperation.
